Maria Thriepland was the infant daughter of Deputy Collector Thomas Thriepland, Bengal Civil Service and Mary Anne Chamberlain. She was born on 1 August 1840 and her mother died just 3 days after her birth on 4 August 1840 due to complications of pregnancy. Maria died on 7 August 1840 and was buried along with her mother.
